Sheshe Sherwani is a painter of sheer delight and optimism. Her work is an expression of her philosophy that life is a spiritual odessy which, despite cultural differences, should for each of us have a unity and a purpose. Technivally she applies paint with verve, by brush, palette knife and sometimes a roller. More recently she has begun to employ collage, adding diverse materials - weave of bandage or Chinese paper - which carry metaphorical references. Sheshe's pictures are contemplative and in-partauto-biographical. Although there is in them a cultural tension, a pull between East and West, they are devoid of angst and portray a spirit very much at ease with itself.
